The Background
BBI were engaged by a main contractor to work on productivity enhancement to reduce the programme overrun on a large residential project, by improving the brickwork output and productivity levels.
We facilitated a recovery plan that provided an acceptable completion date to all.
The Challenge
The Façade brickwork stood at only 60% of planned completion when BBI were engaged.
The sub-contractor was resistant to commit more labour due to various unresolved issues and blockers, like working unproductively.
Mitigation was required to prevent further delays to the plan.
The Solution
Our team developed and deployed a 4-week lookahead productivity enhancement plan, informed by weekly status reporting and analysis, which ensured the production process supported the recovery plan.

The weekly data report and improvement actions included:
- Improved resolution of issues & blockers
- Brickwork completion & productivity opportunities
- Scaffold organisation, planning & comms
- Analysis of sub-contractor’s report, data & problem- solving
The Benefits

Improved Productivity & Output Levels - The recovery plan resolved blockers, enabled effective planning and ensured the right conversations with the right people.

Developed Teamwork & Communication - Improved teamwork, communication and problem solving between the main contractor and sub-contractors, leading to increased morale.

A Reliable Work Flow - Successfully followed the recovery plan. Enabled timely trade-to-trade handover.
